Maintenance

Alpine Trails provides all types of maintenance on all types of trails.  Our primary services include regular deadfall removal, tread repair and reconstruction, installation of appropriate erosion controls (from drains and dips to culverts and bridges), and removal of encroaching vegetation.

A 5% Off-Sloping Tread

  • Long-term sustainability is the key to low maintenance costs.

  • A user-based focus ensures the trail functions as proposed.

  • Effective maintenance leaves less impact on the land.

  • Where necessary, major reconstruction can repair problems associated with poorly designed or constructed trails, or minor retrofits can be installed to assure low-maintenance longevity.

Erosion Control

Example of Backcountry Bridge

  •  All trails designed or built by Alpine Trails include adequate erosion controls.
  •  All are site specific, but generally include off-sloping tread, rolling dips, and other measures as necessary.
  • When maintaining or repairing existing trails, we work to increase erosion controls, up to and including dips,  culverts, drains, and bridges.

Deadfall Removal

  • Regardless of how well they are designed and constructed, all trails require at least some regular maintenance.

  • Alpine Trails performs a full range of regular services, from simple dead fall removal in the spring, to removal of encroaching vegetation, tread repair, and reconstruction.

  • Work can be performed on an as-needed basis, or by annual contract.
