Construction

Alpine Trails has built over 300 miles of trail during the past several years, in a wide range of soils and topography.  Clients range from public agencies to major developers and ski areas.  Repeat business accounts for a large percentage of our work.

Trail Dozer Work

SWECO 450 Dozer At Work

  • The industry's most cost-effective construction methods.

  • Most work completed with a new SWECO 480 trail dozer and new mini-excavator.

  • Over 3,000 hours of experience on trail dozers.

  • Equipment engineered specifically for trail construction.

  • Natural, sustainable, highly-functional finishes.

Hand Work

Singletrack Trail

  • Non-mechanized work is preferable in some cases.

  • In tight trees, above sensitive streams, and along rocky outcroppings, hand work is utilized to best protect the land, while creating the best possible trail.

  • Small, highly trained crews work with care.

All Conditions

Construction In Heavy Rock

  • Extensive experience with steep side slopes, heavy rock, and dense vegetation.

  • Functional, long-lasting trails created in adverse conditions.

  • Sustainable trails constructed on side slopes of over 100%.  Even large rocks (up to 5' diameter) can usually be moved or broken.

  • Smooth finishes attainable in very rough soil conditions.

Low Impact Methods

Natural Looking Trail

  • On all projects we seek to create the best possible trail while leaving the least impact on the land.

  • Even after dozer construction, within a year most of our projects begin to appear as simple game trails.  They will, however, easily outlast nature's best trails.

Bridges

20' Backcountry Bridge

  • Bridges of up to 30' length constructed in the field.

  • All bridges made to withstand heavy loads, including horses, big game, and even trucks (where appropriate.)

  • Bridges are constructed of weather-resistant materials to handle moisture, snow loads, and heavy traffic in all seasons.
